A Virginia tradition

For many Virginians, a tin of Virginia Diner Peanuts is a traditional holiday gift. The brand has been associated with family gatherings, Christmas celebrations, and Southern hospitality for generations.

As someone from Hampton Roads, you may have seen them in gift shops, farmers markets, or around Suffolk and Wakefield—areas that have long been at the center of Virginia’s peanut industry. Suffolk, in particular, has a deep peanut heritage and was the original home of the famous Planters peanut company.

A fun fact: Virginia Diner started in a railroad dining car, and that small diner helped create one of the most recognized gourmet peanut brands in America.

They come from the historic Virginia Diner in Wakefield, Virginia, which opened in 1929 in a converted railroad dining car. The diner began serving local Virginia peanuts to customers, and demand grew so much that the restaurant eventually started packaging and selling them nationwide
